Dear Parents,

Welcome! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and is ready for a great year.

I am excited about the new school year and am looking forward to working with your child and helping him/her achieve his/her full potential.  I have been teaching the Significantly Developmentally Delayed program in Gordon County since 2003.  This year I will serve students at Fairmount Elementary School, other Gordon County elementary schools, and in the community.   I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University, a Master’s of Arts in Teaching Early Childhood Education from Piedmont College, and an Educational Specialist degree in Teacher Leadership from Piedmont College and I am highly qualified to teach your child.  I also hold state certification in Interrelated Special Education.  I have also attended numerous workshops and trainings related to the development and teaching of children with disabilities.

I am married and have a 17 year old son named Avry and a 10 year old son named Eli.    I enjoy spending time with family, reading, traveling, and outdoor activities.

I believe that a good parent-teacher relationship is necessary for maximum school success. Throughout the year I will communicate with you through notes, emails, text messages, telephone calls, progress reports, and IEP meetings. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. You can call me at school, send me a note, or e-mail me at I will make every effort to respond to you as quickly as possible.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year!! Thanks for all you do!

Thank you,

Rebecca Thomason
